Would the "doctor drain" stop?

"Doctor Drain" is the migration of doctors in search of the "golden fleece" in different part of the World. Although there is mal-distribution in global distribution of Physicians, the movement flow are mainly to those countries who have more, thereby worsen the mal-distribution.Usually employment migration of doctors tend to be to developed countries.

Such migration is not a new thing, among doctors and in fact among other health-workers.
It came in limelight with the noted significant migration of European Mainland health professional to United Kingdom and United State of America in 1940s. In 1972, an estimated 6% of World Physician population are not in their country of origin. World Health Organisation(WHO) report 1979 noted the magnitude and trend of flow of health professionals. By 2000, the percentage may have appeared to have reduced with about 1.8%  falling into this category.

The young  and well educated doctors are likely to move from where the salaries are low, the facilities are poor, poor career advancement opportunities, grim or limited career opportunities, poor intellectual stimulation to where there are better result.

Much can not be done about the wage differential due to resource constraints in many affected countries. However a strategy to prevent affectation of health system source country.maybe probably to over producers like Brazil,China and India.

Even the legislative approach by some "importing countries" may not be sustainable because such countries do need them too due to relative deficit in their  supply.

Even though the tide can be stem, stopping maybe too ambitious. The target of affected countries is to retain at least the minimum requirement for her health need. Not obsessive targeting of complete stoppage.
