Different countries have different years spent in training of medical students. The duration is determine by tradition,policies,regulation and law of different countries.
Generally, Medical schools post qualification awards also varies, and it may be Doctor of Medicine (MD), or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS, MBBS, MBChB). The variation in years have nothing to do with quality since usually practitioners have morally obligation to train trainee to acceptable minimally global standard. Note that the years below does not include internship year(s). We thought it is fun if our readers in various part of the world knows the difference.
Before you start wondering why is that business short in some countries- 3-4 years as below?
Entrance into such medical schools in virtually all these 3-4 years schools is after a first degree.And you even go for further training in US i.e residency before you can practice independently unlike in British Commonwealth where you can practice after undergraduate training plus internship!
